One of my first baby purchases!

I told my husband that if we ended up having a girl, he was in for quite a shock. I feel like I will definitely shop WAY more for a girl than I would for a boy. Girl clothes are so fun! There are just so many options, dresses, headbands, polka dot tights, etc. So. much. fun.

Anyway, as soon as we found out we were having a girl I took right to Etsy! Here's what I picked up.

The green and gold one is for my husband, it's a Green Bay Packers baby hat! It's girled up a little with the appliqued flower. I absolutely love it and so does he! I ordered it in 6-12 months so she'll actually be able to wear it during football season next year.

The pink owl is hopefully going to be a prop for our newborn shoot, although it's 0-3 months so it could be a teeny bit too big depending on how big our baby is when she comes out :)

Tails & Toes made its first big sale!!

My mom and I were SO excited to get our first big sale this week! We sold one of my mom's beautiful baby quilts, and a few bibs, all in one order. I was so excited to send it off, so I spent a few hours brainstorming how to package it up all nicely. I strongly feel that in a creative industry, first impressions are so extremely important. Whenever I order something on Etsy, I love when it comes packaged all nice and pretty :)

Here's what I came up with! I put the items in clear plastic bags, which I sealed with our shop sticker (forgot to take a photo of this detail - damn!). Then I wrapped the package in raffia, tied in a bow with our business card attached. Lastly, I put the Etsy invoice in a pretty pink envelope.

Tails & Toes

On the right sidebar you can see the link to the Etsy shop I have with my mom. Technically we started it last summer, but we didn't really put in effort until a few weeks a go. We gathered up everything my mom had made (I'm more of the marketing person, she's the creator - for now, I am trying to learn!) and tried to take some more professional looking pictures of everything.

We are focusing on baby and pet stuff, but we do have a few aprons thrown in there. Basically we're trying out a few different things to see what might be popular. So far we are getting a ton of views of our shop/listings, but no one is biting the bullet and purchasing something. It's interesting, as an engineer I have very little experience in business, so this is a really great learning experience. I've been putting a lot of time into figuring out how exactly you make a business successful. I've taken to twitter and facebook (go like our page! http://www.facebook.com/TailsToes) and now I am posting about it here. Does anyone have any other ideas?
